This victory will keep Atletico third in Group C, but they move onto six points, still two behind Roma in second who will remain on eight points. Therefore, the Spanish side still have a slim chance of securing qualification, but they need Qarabag to beat Roma next time out, along with beating themselves beating Chelsea.

K. Gameiro has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by A. Griezmann.
Great vision and skill by Griezmann to spot the run of his teammate, just staying onside but he still had a lot to do and produced a fine finish to double Atletico's lead and secure victory here tonight.
GOOOAAALLL! ATLETICO DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! That is surely victory wrapped up and three points for Atletico now! Gameiro beats the offside trap as he drifts past the Roma defence, he rounds Alisson who rushes out to meet him, he then shows great composure and skill from a very tight angle.

RED CARD! Bruno Peres is shown a second yellow card for a late and dangerous tackle on Felipe Luis. The Atletico left-back touched the ball past Peres, with the Roma man diving into the back of him. A very poor tackle and he can't have any complaints when he sees the replay of that challenge.

Dzeko has barely touched the ball in this second half for Roma, with Pellegrini and Perotti also having far less of an impact on the game, as Atletico piled players forward in search of a winner.

A. Griezmann has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Á. Correa.
An excellent run and ball by Correa, to pick out Griezmann at the far post, just as it looked like the ball was getting away from the substitute. However, it was a world class finish by Griezmann, Atletico finally have the breakthrough.
GOOOAAALLL! ATLETICO LEAD! It is a phenomenal strike by Griezmann to break the deadlock here. Correa raced in behind and received the ball over the top, he just got to it in time before it went out of play, his lofted ball then looks to have been slightly behind Griezmann at the far post, but the striker pulls off a superb acrobatic effort to fire it into the back of the net.
67'
K. Gameiro enters the game and replaces Y. Carrasco.
Atletico make their third and final substitution of the evening, Yannick Carrasco comes off and he has been replaced by Kevin Gameiro. It is a very attacking line-up now!

OFF THE POST! Wide on the right, Nainggolan seems to spot Oblak is on the far side of the goal and tries his luck from distance. His shot catches the keeper off guard and strikes the post, bounces back into the six-yard box and is eventually cleared. Oblak didn't look like he would've been able to get across to stop that attempt if it had been a couple of inches the other way.
63'
Bruno Peres gets yellow.
Gabi enters the game and replaces Koke.
Another substitution by Atletico, with Koke being replaced by Gabi.
Bruno Peres is shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Griezmann as the Frenchman tried to turn on the half-way line and start a counter-attack.

Filipe Luís gets yellow.
Felipe Luis is the first Atletico player to be shown a yellow card here.
60'
Another Atletico chance! They are starting to pile on the pressure now! Torres breaks on the counter for the hosts, but his lack of pace means that Roma can get a couple of defenders back, before Atletico players can get up in support of the striker. Torres gets to the penalty area, passes to Carrasco who then takes a touch and fires a low shot across the Roma goal which is blocked and goes out for a corner. The corner is well gathered in the air by Alisson.

Atletico make their first substitution of the game with Fernández the man coming off and he has been replaced by Ángel Correa.
55'
CHANCE ATLETICO! Carrasco receives the ball wide on the right wing, sprints into the box and cuts inside, beats two Roma defenders before firing a shot at goal, but it is superbly blocked by Manolas! Great block by the centre-back who was quick to spot the danger and rush out to the winger.
53'
Atlético are on top but are still lacking the final ball. Can they just find that extra bit of quality they need to break the deadlock? Roma still look threatening on the counter-attack, with Pellegrini and Perotti stretching the Atletico defence with their pace.

STAT: Roma have scored at least two goals in three quarters of their Champions League group games this season, finding the net in all of their competitive away fixtures this season.
48'
Atletico have started the second half well, on top of possession as they were in the first half, looking to try and create a chance going forward. As it stands, Roma are well on their way into the last 16 of the Champions League.
46'
The second half is underway!
45'
That's the half-time whistle!
43'
Griezmann is cutting a frustrated figure at the moment. The striker normally drops deep and looks for the ball, which his teammates are looking for him to do, however when they have played balls towards him he has been on the turn, looking for a ball over the top to get in behind. Their final pass just isn’t there at present.
41'
GOAL RULED OUT! Atletico had the ball in the back of the net, after a deflected shot is fired past Alisson. However, the referee had already blown his whistle for a Roma free-kick, after the ball struck the arm of Augusto Fernández just seconds before the strike at goal.
40'
Just five minutes until half-time now, can either side break the deadlock before the break?
37'
Griezmann with another shot at the Roma goal, this time from inside the box but from a very tight angle and once again the Frenchman misses the target by some distance. A goal before the break would be massive for the hosts, especially if Roma pick up their attacking game in the second half and show the quality we all know they possess.
35'
Roma continue to target Thomas down the right, but the stand-in right-back is standing up strong out of position at right-back thus far. Atletico the team on top at the moment, but Roma look very comfortable at the back right now and don't look too troubled.
33'
We're past the half an hour mark here between Atletico Madrid and Roma, the score remains goalless, despite plenty of possession and quick football by both sides, neither team has really threatened in the final third, with both keepers not having to make a good save to deny the opposition as of yet.
30'
Griezmann tries his luck from long range, the striker picked up the ball around 40 yards from goal and with not too much support with him and the Roma defence not rushing to close him down, he unleashed a powerful low strike at goal. However, it goes well wide of the Roma goal and doesn't trouble Alisson.
29'
The atmosphere is electric here inside the Wanda Metropolitano, the new home of Atletico Madrid. The home supporters know that their side need all of their support tonight as a victory is needed to keep their already slim hopes of qualifying for the next round of the Champions League.
27'
Edin Dzeko is the man to watch for the visitors. The Bosnian forward has notched three Champions League goals this season and added another seven in Serie A. However, he has failed to score in his last six games in all competition and he will be eager to break that tonight.
24'
CHANCE ATLETICO! Yannick Carrasco fires a terrific low ball across the Roma goal, with both Koke and Griezmann throwing themselves at the ball in an attempt to get a toe to the ball and divert it towards goal, but they both miss it by inches and the ball goes out of play for a Roma goal-kick.
22'
Koke forces Alisson into making the first save of the game! Felipe Luis whipped a good ball into the box from the left-wing, he was met by the on-rushing Atletico skipper, but he didn't get enough pace on his header and the Roma keeper gathers easily, the direction was right.
20'
Roma are looking to be targeting makeshift right-back Thomas, they are enjoying most of their attacking success down that wing with Diego Perotti’s pace and trickery causing problems. He needs helps from Koke in front of him when Roma break forward.
18'
Atletico have struggled to get Griezmann on the ball so far, the Frenchman hasn't been in the best of form for Atletico this season, however, he did net for his national side in the most recent of international breaks. With Manolas picking up an early yellow card, the Atletico striker may be able to exploit this and use it to his advantage as the game goes on, as the Roma centre-back will have to be careful.
16'
STAT: Atletico have only failed to score in one of their home matches this season, conceding in all but three of them.
13'
Roma have certainly grown into the game, they did well to withstand an early bit of pressure from Atletico, defending well in numbers and not allowing the hosts near to their final third. The Italian side certainly look a threat in the attacking department themselves, with the likes of Edin Dzeko bang in form at the moment.
12'
Decent chance for Roma! Gerson with the opportunity, with the most threatening Roma attack of the game so far. Gerson's off-balance volley from the six-yard box goes well over the bar, after a fast counter by Roma following a free-kick. Both sides are really going for it so far.
11'
Roma have lost just once since their 1-1 draw at home to Atletico back in September.
9'
Good pressure here from Atletico, they are camped inside the Roma half at the moment and have back-to-back corners, which leads to Fernando Torres going close to hitting the back of the net! A drilled a low shot was fired at the Roma goal, it went well wide in the end but Torres was there at the far post trying to divert the ball goalwards on the stretch. However, it is just too fast for the Atletico striker.
7'
K. Manolas gets yellow.
An early yellow card is shown here to Konstantinos Manolas, as the defender brought down Antoine Griezmann on the half-way line with a late challenge, as the Atletico striker looked to break on the counter-attack.
5'
The hosts have started the game as the brighter of the two sides, dominating possession and looking to use the pace of their wingers to exploit this Roma defence. However, their final ball is missing at the moment in the final third, with Alisson comfortably gathering the ball in the air when a cross is whipped into the box.
3'
Elsewhere in Group C, in an earlier kick-off this evening between Chelsea and Qarabag, saw Chelsea thrash the hosts 4-0 to move top of the group on 10 points. However, they are only one point ahead of Roma, who would regain top spot with victory over Atletico.

We're underway!
Good evening and welcome to our LIVE match commentary of the Champions League clash between Atletico Madrid and Roma.
Atletico Madrid must beat Roma to keep their faint hopes of a Champions League knockout place alive. Back-to-back draws with Qarabag leave Atletico without a win in Europe this season, in contrast to their undefeated start to the Liga campaign.
Los Rojiblancos have been poor in the final third this season, netting just twice in four matches and nowhere was their profligacy more evident than in the first matchday at the Stadio Olimpico.
Diego Simeone's men created enough chances and they should have won the game comfortably, yet they had to settle for a 0-0 draw in Rome. However, a repeat result this evening would almost certainly see them eliminated.
Roma made easy work of Chelsea last time out in the Champions League, beating the Premier League champions 3-0, so they know just a point against Atletico, who have lost Stefan Savic to suspension, will be enough to secure their last-16 place.
While Atletico were held to a 0-0 draw against Real Madrid on Saturday in La Liga. Roma beat their city rivals Lazio 2-1, to record a sixth successive win in all competitions. Therefore the Giallorossi arrive in the Spanish capital in fine form and having caused Chelsea all sorts of problems at Stamford Bridge in their 3-3 draw, before beating the Blues in Rome, they will be confident of claiming a positive result in Spain tonight.
The team news is in, here is how the two sides will line-up this evening...
ROMA (4-3-3): Alisson (GK). Bruno Peres, Manolas, Fazio Kolarov; Pellegrini, Gonalons, Nainggolan (c); Gerson, Dzeko, Perotti
ROMA SUBS: Jesus, Strootman, Moreno, De Rossi, Defrel. Skorupski, El Shaarawy
The teams are out here and kick-off is just moments away, stay tuned for all of the match action!
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO 0-0 ROMA
It's goalless here between Atletico Madrid and Roma after 45 minutes of football which was mostly dominated by the hosts, creating the better opportunities but their final ball is missing and despite their dominance, they haven't stretched this Roma defence enough. The Italian side have withstood what has been thrown at them so far and looked capable when given chance going forward.
FULL-TIME: ATLETICO 2-0 ROMA
Atletico secure their first victory in the Champions League this season, with a hard fought and deserved win over Roma at the Wanda Metropolitano, thanks to a spectacular goal by Antoine Griezmann and a late strike by Kevin Gameiro to seal it late on. The Spanish side still have a slim chance of qualifying for the next round, but they need other results to go in their favour.
That's all from us tonight folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
