Long attempts to use his electric pace to burst in behind the Iceland defence on the right channel, but a combination of Sigurdsson and Magnusson win the ball back for Iceland, with the latter making the vital winning tackle.
90' +1
FOUR minutes of added time have been allocated by the referee here which gives the Irish fans one last reason to catalyse a cheer from the stands. Let's see if they Boys in Green can come up with the late equaliser.
89'
A. Skúlason enters the game and replaces R. Gíslason.
Iceland continue to utilise their bench, and this may indeed be their final change of proceedings. Gislason makes way for Ari Skulason.
87'
The few Iceland fans inside the stadium tonight have still managed to treat us with that famous clapping chant which inspired the nation to a superb European Championships campaign in the summer. Not the same affect in a friendly, but still!
85'
V. Jónsson enters the game and replaces B. Sævarsson.
Another Iceland change. Vidar Jonsson is given a run out in place of Saevarsson.
83'
The game is just winding down a bit now and even though Ireland have the unbeaten run to protect, not a lot of people will leave the Aviva tonight crying about the result. After this round of fixtures, the main thing is that Ireland are still towards the top of the World Cup Qualifying group.
81'
Just under 10 minutes remaining of normal time and Ireland are running out of opportunities to grab that elusive equaliser. One thing that could prove particularly worrying for Martin O'Neill is that the Iceland goalkeeper has not had a save of note to make so far.
79'
A. Smárason enters the game and replaces Ó. Skúlason.
Another Iceland substitution now as Arnor Smarason comes on for Olafur Skulason.
77'
Interestingly enough, Ireland and Iceland are only one space apart in the FIFA country rankings list and the one-goal difference between them tonight shows how close they can be. However, Iceland have showed a composure and quality on the ball which the hosts have perhaps lacked on the day.
75'
Ireland are running out of time to try and come up with an equalising goal here, and even though this is a friendly O'Neill's men have a pretty decent unbeaten run at the Aviva Stadium to uphold. Iceland are proving their worth massively with their organisation, though.

Description
73'
C. O'Dowda enters the game and replaces A. McGeady.
For Ireland, McGeady comes off for O'Dowda.
72'
S. Long enters the game and replaces J. McClean.
Ó. Karlsson enters the game and replaces K. Finnbogason.
Christie goes on a rare venture down that right-hand side and eventually hits the byline before sending a wicked cross to the back post. Doyle attempts to rise above the defender to try and get the header away, but it proves too high and Iceland eventually get the throw-in on the opposite wing.
For Iceland, Ottar Karlsson enters the action in place of Finnbogason.
McClean makes way for Shane Long.
70'
Iceland may be weaker tonight without the likes of Swanse's Sigurdsson, but one this is for sure, they are a supremely well-drilled outfit no matter who is on the pitch. Lars Lagerback and Heimir Hallgrimsson deserve all the credit for that.
68'
Well, after that string of changes we can finally take a breath and get back to the football. Brady is still on the pitch and attempts to take the game to Iceland with a penetrating run down the left, but again Iceland get back into defensive positions quickly to make things hard for the hosts.
66'
S. Ingason gets yellow.
Ingason sees yellow.
65'
E. Ómarsson enters the game and replaces A. Sigurðarson.
An Iceland change now, as Sigurdarson comes off for Elias Omarsson.
64'
A. Boyle enters the game and replaces J. Egan.
Egan leaves the pitch, with Andrew Boyle coming on.
63'
S. Gleeson enters the game and replaces J. Hendrick.
E. O'Kane enters the game and replaces C. Hourihane.
D. Horgan enters the game and replaces J. Hayes.
Hendrick makes way for Stephen Gleeson.
Hourihane comes off for Eunan O'Kane.
62'
Jonny Hayes makes way for Daryl Horgan, who makes his debut, for Ireland.
60'
Half-an-hour remaining and during international friendles this is usually about the time both coaches start to make a bunch of changes. With nothing on the line tonight expect a plethora of substitutions.
58'
The Aviva Stadium faithful haven't had a lot to shout about tonight, but being the Irish they are obviously doing their best to maintain some kind of atmosphere.
56'
Ireland have a very inexperienced squad tonight but they can call upon the services of Shane Long from the bench if necessary. The Southampton forward would certainly give the Boys in Green something different up top with his relentless pressing and running.
54'
McGeady comes very deep to see a little bit of the ball this time and collects possession inside the centre circle before turning sharply to move forward. He then picks out a lovely diagonal pass down the left flank for the onrushing Brady.
53'
H. Eyjólfsson enters the game and replaces R. Sigurðsson.
52'
First change of the match comes from Iceland. Leaving the proceedings is Sigurdsson and he will be replaced by Holmar Eyjolfsson.
50'
We haven't seen too much from McClean tonight but the West Brom man has been bright in the past couple of minutes. On this occasion, he gallops down the left wing, attempting to dash pass the defender as he goes, only to go down under the incoming challenge from the right-back. He'll have to settle for the corner.
48'
Much, much better from Ireland in the early stages of this second period as they start to throw some more men forward to show some attacking ambition.
46'
We are back under way at the Aviva.
43'
Hayes hugs the touchline down the left wing and is finally awarded time and space to make a bursting run forward. He twists and turns into the final third but is eventually forced back thanks to some sturdy Iceland defending.
41'
Four minutes to go in this half and Iceland are certainly looking good value for their lead. Indeed, if anyone is going to find the second goal anytime soon it might actually be the visitors!
39'
Kristinsson receives a fairly firm back-pass from his defender which gives Hayes the chance to open up his stride and try and close down the loose ball. The Iceland goalkeeper eventually displays impressive composure to evade the challenge of the Aberdeen man and pass out from the back.
37'
Probably quite fortunate for the Ireland crowd is that there doesn't appear to be the trumpet playing which near enough drowned out the proceedings on Friday evening versus Wales. A passionate fan, yes, but no doubt annoying the people around him!
35'
That goal has did wonders for the confidence of Iceland. Finnbogason, even though he didn't even score, is causing plenty of problems up top now and decides to try his luck with a stinging strike on goal from 25 yards out which flashes just wide of the right-hand post.
33'
The Ireland fans raise the noise a few decibels now as their team are awarded a free-kick in a cracking position down the left wing. Brady stands over it and steps up to fire a lovely cross teasingly into the centre of the box for Hendrick, but the Burnley man is just caught underneath it a bit which provides Iceland the opportunity to clear.
31'
Hourihane, another player making his international debut this evening, pops up down the right wing and picks up possession with a lovely touch. However, a lack of support means that Iceland win the ball back rather easily, even if McClean comes across to try and help out.
29'
Saevarsson goes on a marauding run down the right wing and eventually cuts inside into an area with plenty of space. Bodvarsson picks up the ball to feet on the edge of the box and displays a cracking turn of pace to burst into the area, only to end up running possession out for the goal-kick. Unlucky.
27'
Hendrick collects the ball in the middle of the pitch but is very quickly closed down by the Iceland midfield which forces him to try a difficult pass out to the wing. It doesn't come off, and the visitors steal possession before pouncing on the counter.
25'
We are just beyond the midway point of the first half now and Ireland suddenly find themselves behind. Frustration starts to creep down from the stands as McGeady initially does really well to earn some space on the right wing, only to send a disappointing, flat cross into he box which reaches no one.
23'
To be fair to Egan, he was desperately exposed by his missing midfield when he was forced to commit that foul. What came next from Magnusson was simply a moment of magic and couldn't be avoided.
21'
H. Magnússon has scored a goal for Iceland!
GOOOOAAAALLLL FOR ICELAND! The visitors break the deadlock! Magnusson manages to get on the scoresheet after sending a beauty of a fre-kick up and over the wall and into the bottom right corner! Westwood barely moved! One-nil.
20'
J. Egan gets yellow.
An early booking here, which is fairly rare for an international friendly. Egan is the guilty party as he gives away the free-kick in a dangerous position.
19'
There is a fairly entertaining feud developing between Finnbogason and Pearce in the final third for Iceland. There has been quite a few altercations between the duo, with a few wayward pushes and shoves here and there, but nothing too sinister as of yet.
17'
Pearce attempts to usher the ball back to Westwood only for Finnbogason to try and sneak it for the delicate touch. Eventually, Ireland get the free-kick as the centre-forward just accidentally catches the goalkeeper on the top of the shoulder.
15'
Brady, who captains Ireland for the first time tonight, takes the throw-in deep down the left wing and attempts to find Doyle. The former Wolves striker battles away to try and latch on to it, but the Iceland defence manage to make the clearance with a commanding header.
13'
An Iceland corner-kick is swung into the box and Ingason rises above everyone to glance a header towards the back post. Finnbogason appears poised to attempt the bicycle-kick, but is JUST beaten to the ball by Hendrick who manages to clear to the right flank.
11'
Magnusson picks up the ball at the left-back position and panics ever-so-slightly as he sees the route back to the goalkeeper has been blocked by McClean. Eventually, the Iceland defender fires a ball to the opposite end of the pitch which Westwood collects after patrolling the area outside the box.
9'
There isn't a lot of play going through the midfield area at the moment, with both defences fairly comfortable in trying to heap pressure on the other with lofted balls forward. In a rarity, both sides have started with a two-man strikeforce which is really good to see.
7'
Egan is indeed one of the players who is making his debut tonight and before the match O'Neill spoke about how he has urged his new centre-back to get forward in tonight's encounter.
5'
The game, perhaps predictably, hasn't started at a blistering tempo but this could be said for any match in which the teams involved played just four days ago. With the plethora of changes to both starting XIs, too, the players featuring will need a little while to find their cohesion with each other.
3'
It is not exactly a full house in Dublin tonight, which is to be expected as this is just a friendly after all. However, after the disappointments of Friday evening Ireland will be glad to have this game to try and bounce back and get the momentum going. A few players being given their debut, too.

We are under way at the Aviva Stadium.
Good evening football fans! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the international friendly clash between Republic of Ireland and Iceland from the Aviva Stadium.
The draw kept Martin O’Neill’s men in the mix in World Cup Qualifying Group D as at the moment they are only behind leaders, Serbia, on goal difference. With a plethora of injury concerns, it will be interesting to see what starting XI features for Ireland in this international friendly. We do know that Robbie Brady is set to lead the team out as captain.
This past Friday evening, Ireland took on Wales in a battle of the British Isles in Dublin and it proved to be an extremely cagey affair, eventually ending in a 0-0 stalemate. The match was arguably overshadowed by a terrible injury to Seamus Coleman in which the captain of the Boys in Green broke his leg following a late tackle from Neil Taylor, so we can expect to see a get-well-soon message for him tonight.
TEAM NEWS...
The last time Ireland and Iceland faced each other was 20 years ago during World Cup Qualifying for France ’98. On that occasion in Reykjavik, the Irish ran out 4-2 winners, with a rare double from Roy Kean helping to seal the three points.
Iceland were in action in Qualifying themselves on Friday, and managed to keep up pace with Group I leaders, Croatia, following a narrow 2-1 away win against Kosovo. Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson and Gylfi Sigurdsson were the two players on the scoresheet.
Half-time at the Aviva Stadium as Iceland lead Ireland 1-0 thanks to a lovely free-kick from Magnusson. Second period to come.
Full-time at the Aviva Stadium. Ireland's impressive unbeaten run at home comes to an end as they are defeated 1-0 by a very impressive Iceland side. The only goal of the match came in the first half as Magnusson sent a lovely free-kick into the bottom corner from 25 yards. Back to club football for Ireland and Iceland now. Thanks for joining us, see you next time.
