The home side, who are currently sitting in 18th place, have won on only one occasion in their previous six home Premier League matches. With 17th-placed Southampton facing Tottenham this afternoon, a win today could see the Bluebirds move ahead of their fellow strugglers in the battle for Premier League safety. West Ham, however, have lost four of their last six away fixtures in the Premier League. The away side currently find themselves sat in 9th place and will be hopeful of ending their poor run of form on the road as they seek to keep their hopes of finishing seventh alive.
The teams are out and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff will be very pleased with their first half performance after limiting West Ham to very few chances. The hosts looked a real threat on the break through Murphy and Hoilett who will be crucial if Cardiff are to find another goal in the second half. West Ham, on the other hand, failed to really get going in the opening half. Whilst the away side largely dominated possession, they failed to create any clear-cut chances. Snodgrass will be key if West Ham are to find a way back into this game after looking bright in patches during the first half.
As a result of Cardiff’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Brighton being rescheduled due to the Seagulls advancing in the FA Cup, the Bluebirds host Chelsea next time out as they look to build on their victory today. West Ham, meanwhile, host Huddersfield as they look to return to winning ways.
That brings an end to our coverage of the Premier League fixture between Cardiff City and West Ham United at Cardiff City Stadium. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
