Referee Anthony Taylor blows his whistle, and this match is underway!
Hello, and welcome to our live coverage of this Europa League match between Krasnodar and Valencia!
Just a bit of a reminder that Valencia have a 2-1 lead coming into today's match, though Krasnodar's goal was of the away variety meaning, if the hosts win 1-0 on the day, they will advance to the quarter-finals!
On the other hand, Valencia do have history on their side as they have progressed from the last seven European ties in which they won the first leg.
Just three changes after Krasnodar’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Orenburg on Monday. Safonov, Ramirez, and Olsson get the start today with Kabore missing out completely and Sinitsyn and Stotskiy dropping to the bench. The latter failing to make the XI is a bit of surprise considering he has recorded the most both key passes and crosses for Krasnodar domestically this season. In his absence, Gazinskiy will have to carry most of the creative workload and they’ll be hoping to see Ramirez whip in some quality crosses from his left back position.
Valencia (4-4-2): Neto; Daniel Wass, Gabriel, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Carlos Soler, Francis Coquelin, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Denis Cheryshev; Santi Mina, Ruben Sobrino.
Valencia substitutes: Jaume Domenech, Kevin Gameiro, Goncalo Guedes, Toni Lato, Rodrigo Moreno, Cristiano Piccini, Ferran Torres.
Just like in the first-leg, Valencia make a whipping seven changes. Wass, Diakhaby, Soler, Coquelin, Cheryshev, Sabrino, and Santi Mina all come into the side for today's match. The latter will need to have a good day having been given the start ahead of Rodrigo and Gameiro, but the odds of that are fairly high considering he has been a part of more Europa League goals this campaign than any Valencia player since Paco Alcacer in 2013/14. The biggest absentee for the Spanish side will surely be Parejo who misses out via yellow card accumulation. He leads all of LaLiga in accurate crosses and only Lionel Messi has created more chances, so the team will need to step up collectively if they are to fill the Parejo-shaped hole in their midfield.
The teams are lined up on the pitch as the Europa League anthem rings around Krasnodar Stadium! Not long to go now!
If Krasnodar were able to score once, and not concede at all, they would be the side to go through to the quarter-finals, so it will be interesting to see how they set up in the second-half. As for Valencia, they basically just need a single goal to ensure a place in the next round so a Rodrigo substitution definitely seems on the cards unless Valencia score early in the half.
That will do it for our live coverage of this Europa League match between Krasnodar and Valencia! We hope you enjoyed following along, and will join us again soon!
It's hard to imagine the Krasnodar players being able to put this loss behind them anytime soon, but they will attempt to do just that as their attentions turn back to the Russian Premier League, and specifically Lokomotiv Moscow on Sunday. As for Valencia, they will be hoping to ride this high right on into their match against Getafe at the weekend.
