Newcastle are knocking the ball around at the back, aiming to take the sting out of the match. Two of the three added-on minutes have been played.
90'
Newcastle are penned in, holding on for what would be a decent-enough point. Another cross comes into the box, which Schar gets in the way of at the expense of a corner. Gross will send it in from the left...
89'
Bernardo's ball into the middle nearly drops for Gross but Fernandez hacks it clear. Brighton are building momentum and are pushing for a goal that would all but confirm their place in the Premier League for another season.
88'
Manquillo sends in a teasing cross form the right that Ryan does well to get a fingertip to, with Rondon waiting to pounce behind him. The ball is not properly cleared but Kenedy hammers it over the bar from distance.
86'
Fernandez helps the ball behind for another Brighton corner, which gets the home supporters out of their seats. Duffy gets to the ball first but can only head it into the ground. Newcastle are starting to hold on a little now.
84'
Y. Muto gets yellow.
Muto may have got a little bit of the ball in that challenge on Bernardo, but the referee did not spot it and a yellow card is shown to the substitute forward.
83'
Brighton have not really pushed on since scoring an equaliser. March and Bernardo exchange passes towards the left but there is no route through. It is patiently worked to the opposite flank, then through the middle, and Muto fouls Bernardo to concede a free-kick.
81'
Y. Muto enters the game and replaces C. Atsu.
Muto is on for Atsu in the final change of the game. There are 10 minutes to go at the Amex Stadium and it remains all to play for.
80'
Manquillo tries to get away from a couple of Brighton players but Gross drags him down. Benitez looks as though he is about to make his third and final change of the match.

Description
78'
Y. Bissouma gets yellow.
Bissouma fouls Atsu and is shown the fourth yellow card of the contest.
77'
Brighton must surely push on now and look for a winner after dragging themselves back on level terms through their first serious attempt of the match. Newcastle have badly tailed off in the second half and have been punished for that.
75'
P. Groß has scored a goal for Brighton & Hove Albion! Assist by G. Murray.
Replays show that, while Ritchie did lean into Murray for that latest penalty shout, there was not enough contact to warrant Mike Dean pointing to the spot. Dummett has taken over as Newcastle captain following Shelvey's exit.
GOOOOAAALLL!!! BRIGHTON 1-1 NEWCASTLE! How big a goal could this be for Albion?! They finally get the cross into the box right as Murray heads down Bruno's floated delivery for Gross to head past a stranded Dubravka from close range.
Bruno's cross was a good one and Murray did well to head the ball into an area for Gross to convert. Dubravka hardly covered himself in glory, it must be said. Incredibly, that is Murray's first ever Premier League assist for Brighton.
73'
Ki Sung-Yueng enters the game and replaces J. Shelvey.
Shelvey is replaced by Ki with a little over 15 minutes to go at the Amex Stadium.
72'
March, who has looked lively since being brought on at half-time, switches to the left-hand flank and wins a corner from Manquillo. Newcastle successfully defend it and hit their opponents on the counter, but Kenedy is unable to pick out Rondon in the box with a pretty simple cross.
70'
Murray turns on the edge of the box and surely has to shoot. He instead looks to spread the ball to March on the right but the pass is cut out. Bruno then goes in hard on Hayden to kill off the hosts' momentum.
68'
Dummett gets to a bouncing loose ball before March to prevent the Brighton midfielder from charging through on goal. Albion have taken control of the match but they are struggling to create anything when they get the ball into the final third.
66'
A. Knockaert enters the game and replaces J. Izquierdo.
Knockaert, returning from a three-match ban for his red card against Bournemouth, replaces Izquierdo in what has been a regular change this season.
65'
With 25 minutes to go at the Amex Stadium, there has still been just the one shot on target - Perez's powerful strike for the opening goal. March cuts inside from the right and his cross goes right through without a touch for Dubravka to gather. That may go down as the second shot on target as it would have gone in if not for Dubravka's intervention.
63'
Brighton have had 58 per cent of the ball in the second half. Murray thinks he is through on goal after chasing down a ball over the top, but the offside flag goes up. Replays show that he may have been marginally on.
61'
BLOCK! March wriggles away from Ritchie and has room to shoot 20 yard from goal. The substitute midfielder thumps the ball towards goal but it strikes Schar before it can trouble Dubravka. Brighton are starting to turn the screw at long last.
58'
Duffy punches the grass in frustration as he gets up the field but the cross does not arrive in the box. Bernardo gets an early cross in from the next attack, which is glanced clear.
57'
Ritchie's corner is headed clear by Duffy. Brighton have offered slightly more attacking threat than they did in the first half, but they still do not look as though they have a goal in them.
56'
Shelvey is pulling the strings, largely because nobody in a blue and white top wants to get anywhere near him. The midfielder clips the ball into the box for Hayden to control, but Dunk gets his foot to the ball to concede a corner.
54'
HEADED WIDE! March has the ball at his feet on the right and has a couple of players in the middle to aim for. Murray gets to the cross but is unable to keep his awkward header on target. Much better from Brighton!
50'
It appears as though Gross will play just off Murray in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Rondon charges forward following some sloppy play from the hosts and has a shot blocked on the edge of the box.
49'
Y. Bissouma enters the game and replaces B. Kayal.
Bissouma is brought on for the injured Kayal early in the second half. That is now two changes made by Hughton with 40 minutes to go.
47'
Gross sends an early cross into the box which Dummett gets to first. Sixty seconds into the second half and Brighton are already looking more threatening than they did in the first half!
46'
S. March enters the game and replaces F. Andone.
RESTART! Brighton, heading for a sixth defeat in seven league matches, get us back up and running at the Amex Stadium!
Hughton has made a change at the break as March is on in place of Andone, likely meaning a change of system.
45' +2
HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON 0-1 NEWCASTLE
45'
M. Ritchie gets yellow.
Mike Dean does well to let the game flow after Ritchie lunged in on Andone. The Brighton attack fizzled out once Izquierdo lost his footing on the edge of the box. The ball eventually goes out of play and Ritchie is booked for his challenge.
43'
This first half is petering out. Brighton are offering absolutely nothing, despite being a goal down on home soil against a bottom-half side. Benitez's only concern will be that his side have not truly made their dominance count, scoring just once.
41'
Brighton's tactics are simply not working. Shelvey is allowed to carry the ball forward, but his angled pass is overhit and goes straight behind. The home fans are not a happy bunch - rightly so!
40'
Had Schar gone to ground inside the box from that last Newcastle attack it would likely have been a penalty. He lost his footing and was unable to round Ryan when through on goal. Shelvey's attempt from range ends in the stands.
39'
Kenedy and Schar exchange passes and the latter - a defender, remember! - stays on his feet despite seemingly being clipped and tries to take the ball around Ryan. The ball overruns slightly and Ryan is able to make an interception.
37'
Brighton pass the ball out from the back and that finally gets the crowd going, only for Stephens to give away possession in midfield. Newcastle are looking the more likely to score a second goal.
35'
Albion win themselves another corner, which is headed clear. Frustratingly, the hosts go all the way back to Ryan and Newcastle quickly turn over possession. The Brighton supporters are starting to grow restless.
33'
Kenedy enters the game and replaces Ayoze Pérez.
Perez did well to remain on the field for as long as he did, rewarded for his bravery with his goal 18 minutes in. Kenedy, who has been out of the picture at St James' Park, comes on in his place.
32'
Brighton have managed to get their foot on the ball over the last couple of minutes, without really troubling their opponents. Kenedy is stripping down on the sideline and will probably replace Perez very shortly.
30'
The tempo remains very flat at the Amex Stadium. You would not think that Brighton are potentially fighting for their Premier League future today. Defeat for Hughton's men will give Cardiff, three points worse off with two games to go, hope of pulling off the great escape.
28'
Perez remains on the field, despite barely being able to move. Benitez is surely considering a change as we approach the half-hour mark. Brighton also have an injury concern as Kayal is clutching his leg.
26'
Gross whips the right-sided free-kick into the box but Murray is flagged for offside. Brighton cannot get out of first gear.
25'
P. Dummett gets yellow.
Dummett dives in on Andone, who was leading a rare counter attack for the hosts, and he is shown the second yellow card of the game.
Bernardo produces a vital headed clearance to prevent Schar from getting on the end of Atsu's return pass inside the box. The corner comes to nothing.
24'
Brighton's gameplan has not changed one bit since falling behind. It is incredible just how easy this is for the visitors, who are continuing to knock the ball around with absolutely no pressure on the ball.
20'
Perez does not look right at all following that early injury he sustained to his hip. The Spanish forward was squirming as he struck the ball past Ryan. Bruno makes contact on Rondon in the box but not enough for Mike Dean to point to the spot.
18'
Ayoze Pérez has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by S. Rondón.
This is a brilliant assist from Rondon, who simply chested the ball down in front of Perez for his team-mate to blast home. Quite how the two men were given that much space to link up is anyone's guess.
GOOOOAAALLL!!! BRIGHTON 0-1 NEWCASTLE! The visitors take a deserved lead at the Amex Stadium through man of the moment Perez! Dummett is allowed to stroll forward and he picks out Rondon in the box. Rondon chests it into the path of Perez, who thumps it past Ryan from 12 yards. As clinical as you like!
There is absolutely no pressure on the ball at the moment, with Newcastle's players being allowed to pass it around at will. The home fans have not responded well to that, urging their players to get out of their own half.
17'
Murray attempts to bring the ball down in the box but Ritchie gets across to prevent him from doing so. Brighton are seemingly set out to earn a point today.
13'
Newcastle have seen 63 per cent of the ball in the opening 13 minutes of the match. The visitors are knocking the ball around with ease - Brighton's players do not seem interested in closing them down - but they need to be a little more adventurous with their passing.
11'
F. Andone gets yellow.
The referee Mike Dean reaches into his pocket for the first time today. Andone jumps into Atsu and it is deemed worthy of a caution.
10'
Newcastle, having defended those two Brighton corners in the space of a minute, are back on top in terms of possession. Albion are very deep, however, and the visitors are not finding any gaps in the final third.
9'
Dubravka gets two fists to the corner. It is only a temporary reprieve for the visitors, though, as the ball is cleared behind by Dummett for another corner.
8'
Andone tries to take on Shelvey down the left-hand side but the Newcastle midfielder stays with his man to concede a corner. That came after a promising United attack came to a disappointing end as Perez was dispossessed.
7'
Newcastle are starting to look a lot more settled on the ball. Atsu drives forward in a left-sided position and gets a shot away when he arrives in the box, but it is blocked by a Brighton player.
6'
Brighton have a chance to play the ball in behind Fernandez down the right but they are unable to make the most of the opportunity. Newcastle turn defence into attack and Shelvey's cross has to be dealt with before Rondon can pounce at the back post.
4'
The training-ground routine from Brighton is terrible. The free-kick from 20 yards is worked short and it is then played across the edge of the box to nobody in particular. A Newcastle player is able to sweep up before the shot arrives.
2'
Hayden rather clumsily challenges Murray 20 yards from his own goal and Brighton will have an early chance to test Dubravka from the free-kick.
1'
KICK-OFF! Newcastle, seven points better off than their opponents, get us underway!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton's survival hopes have been boosted without even kicking a ball today as 18th-placed Cardiff City have suffered a 1-0 defeat to Fulham in one of the earlier kick-offs, leaving Chris Hughton's men three points clear of the relegation zone with this game in hand to play. That could be significant, as they also have a vastly superior goal difference to Cardiff, so even a point today at home to Newcastle may now be enough to get them over the line.
Albion are winless in their last seven games in all competitions and have collected just one point from the last 18 on offer in the Premier League. That loss of form is in contrast to opponents Newcastle, who have won back-to-back games against Leicester City and Southampton to climb up to 14th place and put an end to their lingering relegation concerns. Rafael Benitez's men are now looking up rather than down, with victory today enough to lift them two more places in the table.
Brighton subs: Dan Burn, Solly March, David Button, Gaetan Bong, Anthony Knockaert, Yves Bissouma, Jurgen Locadia.
NEWCASTLE (5-4-1): Martin Dubravka; Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez, Paul Dummett, Matt Ritchie; Ayoze Perez, Jonjo Shelvey (c), Isaac Hayden, Christian Atsu; Salomon Rondon.
Newcastle subs: Ki Sung-yueng, Mohamed Diame, Antonio Barreca, Kenedy, DeAndre Yedlin, Yoshinori Muto, Karl Darlow.
The two teams are now out on the field at the Amex Stadium and we are moments away from kick-off.
BRIGHTON (4-3-3): Mat Ryan; Bruno (c), Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk, Bernardo; Pascal Gross, Dale Stephens, Beram Kayal; Florin Andone, Glenn Murray, Jose Izquierdo.
The visitors did not offer a great deal more in front of goal, but they were in control of possession and look the more likely to score the game's second goal. Schar was clipped in the box but stayed on his feet and was thwarted by Ryan, though that aside there have been very few talking points. Benitez lost goalscorer Perez to injury 33 minutes in, bringing on Kenedy in his place, so he will now have to use his remaining subs wisely.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
This point could be huge for Brighton as they are now four points clear of 18th-placed Cardiff with two games to go. Hughton's men boast a far superior goal difference, too, so even back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City to see out their campaign may not matter too much. Cardiff, for what it is worth, host Crystal Palace next week and then travel to Manchester United on the final day. As for already-safe Newcastle, they host Liverpool and travel to Fulham in their remaining two matches.
