90'
Greenwood passes forward for Gomes who booms a shot over from range. Man Utd can take comfort from having given these two young talents some game time.
88'
Ward wins a free-kick off McTominay and Cardiff waste a few valuable seconds. Up the other end beforehand, Greenwood almost gets onto the end of a cutback from the right. He's been one of Man Utd's brighter sparks today.
86'
Cardiff aren't being threatened as much now. Man Utd seem to know that the jig is up for their season.
84'
Man Utd have been extremely narrow today. Solskjaer will want to see a new winger come through this summer.
82'
Martial's shot from outside the box is blocked, then Lingard fizzes a shot across Etheridge's goal. A Man Utd goal doesn't feel forthcoming.
81'
Mendez-Laing trudges off. He's had a memorable day. Hoilett replaces him.
Minute
Description
80'
J. Hoilett enters the game and replaces N. Mendez-Laing.
Rashford cuts inside from the left and blazes over again. If Man Utd are going to get back into this, they need to score quickly.
79'
It's another corner for Man Utd, this time off Mendez-Laing. From it, Murphy concedes a foul on McTominay outside the box.
78'
Peltier concedes Cardiff's ninth corner of the game. Again, the delivery isn't much to write home about.
76'
Cardiff have defended stoutly today. If they do go on to win, it probably says more about the state of Man Utd than it does them though.
74'
A. Valencia enters the game and replaces Diogo Dalot.
D. Ward enters the game and replaces K. Zohorè.
A. Gomes enters the game and replaces Andreas Pereira.
Man Utd use their remaining substitutions. First, Pereira makes way for 18-year-old Gomes. Their kids are clearly their future.
Secondly, Valencia makes his final appearance for Man Utd after a decade at the club. He comes on for Dalot at right-back.
Cardiff make a change. Ward replaces Zohore up front.
73'
Morrison concedes another corner. This time Greenwood flashes a header over. The Man Utd teenager's looked very promising today.
71'

Maybe they can! Etheridge dives high to his left to save Pogba's shot from the edge of the box. Nothing comes of the Man Utd corner.
68'
Rashford is offside from Pogba's pass soon after the young striker has a shot blocked.
66'
Man Utd look short of ideas, but they came back against Burnley from a similar position earlier this year. Don't count them out just yet.
64'
Reid latches onto a bread-and-butter long ball down the middle from Etheridge as Man Utd's defence parts like the Red Sea. Fortunately for them Reid flashes his shot wide.
63'
Lingard jinks forward and looks for Martial but the pass is never reaching him. Zohore soon races Smalling to a ball and wins a throw. Cardiff are cruising.
61'
J. Murphy gets yellow.
P. Pogba gets yellow.
Murphy is also booked for his part in the spat.
Man Utd's frustration is starting to boil over. Pogba wrestles Murphy to the ground after Murphy wastes time over a throw-in. He's booked.
59'
Martial forces Etheridge to concede a corner as the keeper pushes the Frenchman's shot away from the centre of Cardiff's goal. Nothing comes of the corner.
58'
J. Richards enters the game and replaces A. Gunnarsson.
Gunnarsson - the only survivor of Cardiff's previous Premier League season in 2013-14 - leaves the field to applause from the Cardiff fans. That's his final appearance for them. Richards replaces him.
56'
Man Utd win a corner off Mendez-Laing. Cardiff see it away. Solskjaer looks nervy down on the touchline.
55'
That was a lovely assist by Murphy, and Man Utd have it all to do now! It'll be a humiliation for them if it stays like this.
54'
N. Mendez-Laing has scored a goal for Cardiff City! Assist by J. Murphy.
Man Utd are on top again. This time Pereira and Rashford combine down the right, to no avail. Arsenal are drawing 0-0 with Burnley, so a United win would still land them fifth place.
GOAL! 2-0 CARDIFF! Cardiff are on for their first league win at Old Trafford since 1954! Murphy wriggles free down the right and is wise enough to spot Mendez-Laing arriving at the far post, giving his team-mate a tap-in. Mendez-Laing has doubled his goal tally for the season.
52'
Martial has added some zip to the United attack. The Frenchman tries to dart through the heart of Cardiff's defence but can't keep the ball in play.
51'
Morrison clearly impedes Martial by wrapping his arms around him, but the Cardiff man luckily isn't penalised.
50'
Rashford and Martial one-two their way up the pitch, almost presenting Rashford with a shooting chance. Ecuele Manga steps in just in time.
48'
McTominay, who's dropped into defence for United, puts the ball out for a throw under pressure from Zohore. Smalling heads the throw-in away.
47'
Dalot picks the ball up out wide, gingerly ventures inside and elects to sky a shot over the bar with his right foot. United won't score like that.
46'
A. Martial enters the game and replaces P. Jones.
Man Utd have 45 minutes to avoid defeat here. Can they summon one last late comeback this season?
45' +1
HALF TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 0-1 CARDIFF CITY
45'
Bacuna skids a right-footed shot wide from the free-kick. Reid also has a shot blocked. There will be one added minute in this first half.
Solskjaer decides a half-time sub is needed. Jones goes off for Martial.
44'
Andreas Pereira gets yellow.
Pereira sees yellow for a scything foul on Reid.
42'
McTominay gets the free-kick as he's fouled by Morrison ahead of the corner. Man Utd try to set Rashford free with a direct ball forward, but he gets into a tangle with Bacuna who's on a yellow card! Luckily for Cardiff, the ref isn't moved.
36'
Pogba slips while trying another through ball for Greenwood but the teenager is offside anyway. Cardiff are coping easily enough.
34'
Greenwood has looked impressive so far. Pogba has not. The crowd take exception to a poor ball for Rashford bursting through on goal. Etheridge comes out to grab it.
32'
The pressure on Cardiff has relieved a bit for now. Murphy's shot from outside the box is high, wide and not very handsome.
28'
L. Bacuna gets yellow.
Bacuna is booked for a bad foul on Lingard. Cardiff aren't hanging on yet but Man Utd have gone up a gear.
27'
Lingard has another pop at goal from distance and Etheridge again dives low to keep it out. Man Utd have taken that penalty decision personally.
23'
Penalty goal scored by N. Mendez-Laing for Cardiff City!
GOAL! 1-0 CARDIFF! Mendez-Laing steps up and smashes the penalty straight down the middle. It's a fortunate goal for Cardiff. 'You're getting sacked in the morning,' the Cardiff fans crow to Solskjaer.
20'
Pogba makes a good run down the left and looks for a team-mate but his options are scarce, causing him to pass the ball straight to Cardiff. From that...
18'
Cardiff are being mostly confined to the counter-attack but are still looking threatening. Zohore gets a sniff of goal and coaxes a comfortable save from De Gea.
14'
Bacuna picks up the ball and lets loose a shot from range that's nowhere near the goal. This is already rollercoaster stuff.
10'
Lingard loses his balance during a slaloming run and concedes possession to Cardiff. Murphy goes up the other end and wins a throw-in that United head away.
9'
Pereira has a tame shot right at Etheridge that the keeper claims comfortably. Man Utd look like they're just warming up.
8'
Pogba pops up on the left of Cardiff's box and turns Morrison as the Cardiff captain gets too tight to his man. The Frenchman flashes a ball across the face of goal for Greenwood but Bennett puts it out for a United corner.
6'
This game has started nicely end-to-end. Mendez-Laing cuts inside from the right and shoots but it's high and wide of the United goal.

This end-of-season clash gets underway!
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Premier League final day match between Manchester United and Cardiff City at Old Trafford.
This season can't end quickly enough for Manchester United. While their bitter rivals Manchester City may pull off a domestic treble and their even more bitter rivals Liverpool have a Champions League final to look forward to, the Reds have little to play for except pipping a Baku-bound Arsenal - away at Burnley today - to fifth place.
Deciding whether United will finish the season in fifth or sixth will fall to an already relegated Cardiff, who will finish 18th no matter what happens here. Chasing the prize of the Europa League group stage rather than its second qualifying round will frustrate a club like United, but it will have to do for now.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-3): David de Gea; Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Diogo Dalot; Andreas Pereira, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba; Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard.
SUBS: Sergio Romero, Antonio Valencia, James Garner, Fred, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Angel Gomes.
CARDIFF CITY (4-4-1-1): Neil Etheridge; Lee Peltier, Sean Morrison (c), Bruno Ecuele Manga, Joe Bennett; Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Aron Gunnarsson, Leandro Bacuna, Josh Murphy; Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Kenneth Zohore.
SUBS: Greg Cunningham, Jazz Richards, Kadeem Harris, Danny Ward, Rhys Healey, Brian Murphy, Junior Hoilett.
The two sides enter the Old Trafford pitch - United in their iconic red and white, Cardiff in all-blue. It's all pleasantly traditional.
Cardiff's win means that Man Utd finish their Premier League season in sixth after Arsenal beat Burnley at Turf Moor 3-1. Cardiff end the season in 18th, two points behind Brighton who have been beaten by Man City 2-1.
Man City have become the first side to defend the Premier League title since Man United did so in 2008-09. That will sting for United. Now Man Utd's summer begins, and they'll need to take a long hard look at themselves to return to their previous heights. That's all for this Premier League season. Goodbye!
