Rodriguez is shown a late yellow card for shouting his frustrations at the match official.
90'
The referee indicates four additional minutes at the end of the match for stoppages.
82'
Three Getafe players stand over the ball, but it’s Fajr who attempts to curl it towards the near post. The wall does its job and deflects the delivery, with Savic repelling the danger.
81'
Saúl gets yellow.
Saul brings Cucurella down with a dangerously high boot just outside his own penalty area and receives a yellow. This presents Getafe with a fantastic chance to hit the target - their best of the evening.
80'
Enric Gallego enters the game and replaces Jaime Mata.
Getafe’s third change is made with 10 minutes remaining, as Mata is replaced by Gallego.
79'
Trippier takes an Atletico Madrid free-kick on the right-hand side, but it’s a disappointing delivery which fails to beat the first man, as Getafe whack it clear.
77'
A. Nyom gets yellow.
Vitolo is brought down by Nyom inside Getafe’s half, earning him a yellow card.
75'
Raul Garcia shows a flash of brilliance with a fantastic curling delivery from the left to the far post, but Mata is unable to get any contact with his head, letting it by him and out for a goal-kick.
73'
Vitolo enters the game and replaces T. Lemar.
Atletico’s final change of the match sees Lemar replaced by Vitolo.
Minute
Description
72'
Raul Garcia takes a corner-kick over the heads of all his team-mates, forcing Gonzalez to exit the penalty area on the far side to recollect. He passes it infield to Arambarri, whose sloppy return goes out for an Atletico throw-in.
70'
Getafe haven’t shown anything different since half-time, with their glaring inability to create against Atletico Madrid costing them the three points. With no shots on target, and the substitutes doing little to change things, Bordalas is going to have to hope for a gift.
66'
Marcos Llorente enters the game and replaces João Félix.
Confirmation of the defensive-minded change - though it looks more precautionary than anything serious for Joao Felix as he is withdrawn for Llorente.
65'
Play is stopped momentarily as Joao Felix is down after an aerial challenge with Arambarri. The medical staff is working on his left leg, while Simeone instructs Llorente to get warmed up.
64'
Ángel Rodríguez enters the game and replaces D. Suárez.
Getafe make their second change, as Suarez is replaced by Rodriguez in midfield.
62'
Hermoso enters the game and replaces T. Partey.
Hermoso is brought on for his Atletico Madrid LaLiga debut, with Thomas the man to make way.
61'
Trippier floats in a cross to the far post once again looking for Morata, but Soria is quick off his line to punch the effort out of his penalty area.
59'
Morata gets into the penalty area after chasing down a long pass, but he is unable to shape himself for the volley as he chooses instead to hold up play and wait for his team-mates. His confidence has surely taken a hit after the failed penalty, but an effort at goal was more than possible for the Spain international from that angle.
56'
Penalty saved by David Soria!
THE PENALTY FROM MORATA IS SAVED! The striker sends his shot high into the left-hand corner, but Soria’s quick decision and outstretched palm combine to stop the shot! It remains 1-0 Atletico!
Morata's effort was a good one, but his inability to beat Soria keeps him from an opening-day double.
53'
Despite the two expulsions in the first half, the ferocity of the match has not subsided, with both teams jumping into tackles at any opportunity. It’s causing play to be slow and broken up, which surely benefits Atletico Madrid who are looking comfortable.
51'
Raul Garcia wins some space from Trippier and fires a cross to the near post, but Suarez is unable to redirect it as he puts the effort wide of the target.
49'
F. Fajr gets yellow.
Joao Felix is once again the target of a tackle as Fajr lunges in from behind and catches the Portugal international on his way to the ball. The referee produces a yellow card in response.
48'
Getafe build around Atletico’s penalty area but the referee stops play as Fajr’s pass is received by Nyom as there is a tangling of legs between Saul and Mata. Atletico are awarded the free-kick which lets them clear their lines.
46'
Raúl Carnero enters the game and replaces L. Cabrera.
Cabrera, who was booked in the first half, is wisely removed at half-time for Raul Garcia.
Atletico Madrid get the second half underway from the kick-off!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 1-0 GETAFE.
45'
The fourth official indicates one additional minute for stoppages.
44'
It’s perhaps a harsh second booking for Lodi. It didn’t appear to be the type of challenge one should be sent off for, but it is his second infringement in a minute. The referee has certainly had a busy end to the first half!
42'
Renan Lodi gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
IT’S A SECOND YELLOW IN TWO MINUTES FOR LODI! THE LEFT-BACK IS SENT OFF! During an aerial duel, the LaLiga debutant climbs on the back of Suarez - sending the Getafe player to the floor and slapping him in the face in the process. The referee does not hesitate and shows him a second booking! It’s 10 against 10!
41'
Renan Lodi gets yellow.
Lodi is shown a yellow card for jumping in late in an attempt to win back the ball in midfield.
40'
A similar incident happened yesterday in Real Madrid’s match against Celta Vigo, when Luka Modric’s yellow card was rescinded upon VAR review. Referees are able to go back and review a passage of play in order to decide on violent conduct - which has been proven this time.
38'
Jorge Molina goes off after a red card!
VAR HAS INTERVENED AND IT’S RED! Replays show that Molina stamped on the foot of Thomas, twisting his ankle horribly. The referee has rescinded the yellow card upon review, and awarded the Getafe striker and captain a red card!
36'
The delivery is swung in but defended immediately by Atletico, which allows them to break on a counter-attack. Molina is forced to slow down the approach by fouling Thomas - which earns him a yellow.
35'
Saul is unimpressed after he is called for a foul on Molina after nipping at the heels of the Getafe striker. The free-kick is to the right of the penalty area, with a left-footed delivery most likely.
33'
The free-kick is hit towards goal and it manages to skip through the mass of bodies, but it exits the other side and out for a goal-kick without troubling Oblak.
31'
Thomas is called for catching the outstretched leg of Cucurella late, which gives Getafe a chance to bring Oblak into the game.
29'
Getafe for their part have been more or less non-entities, holding onto just over 30% possession and failing to produce a shot. It’s still early, but last years’ fifth-place finishers will have to do much more if they’re going to push on and earn a point.
27'
It’s been a good, but slightly unspectacular opening half-hour for the hosts, who haven’t managed to trouble Soria often despite bossing play. With a 1-0 lead, it will be interesting to see if Diego Simeone is as intent as he always is to defend, or if he chooses to keep his team open and push for a second.
23'
Álvaro Morata has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by K. Trippier.
It's a dream LaLiga debut for Trippier, whose well-taken cross to Morata earns him an assist.
ATLETICO MADRID HAVE THEIR GOAL! It’s a simple finish for Morata who barely had to jump in order to turn Trippier’s pacey cross past Soria! Djene was the man marking him, but he barely put up a fight, allowing a neat finish from the centre of the penalty area.
19'
Atletico are putting Getafe under considerable pressure, building up around the penalty area. There’s been a bit of a lack of penetration from the hosts, however, as they’ve not yet found a way to force Soria into a save.
17'
L. Cabrera gets yellow.
Cabrera is shown a yellow card for an absolutely needless challenge on Joao Felix inside the centre-circle, leading with his elbow to win the ball and catching the striker in the face.
16'
Savic hits it over the top from well inside his own half for Trippier, but it’s better placed for Morata. Djene takes the striker down while waiting for the hanging ball, but the referee’s call is for offside on the striker.
12'
The free-kick is curled in low, but the play is not allowed to develop as Savic is called for a foul on Gonzalez.
11'
Joao Felix plays a one-two pass with Lemar, but is taken down by Suarez before he can receive the return - earning Atletico a free-kick roughly 40 yards out.
9'
Mata is put through on goal with only Gimenez in his way, but after jockeying for position, the Getafe striker is forced to push his man out of the way, which draws a whistle from the referee.
7'
Trippier plays a lovely ball down the channel for Koke, though it's a touch too hard as it rolls just outside the reach of the Atletico captain. Cucurella doesn’t take a risk with the ball in the six-yard box and puts it behind for a corner.
5'
An early tactical switch sees Lemar pull into the middle of the pitch, just behind Morata and Joao Felix, with Saul and Thomas playing either side of Koke in midfield. This will put a lot more emphasis on the Atletico full-backs to sustain support from wide positions.
3'
Koke uses the outside of his boot to play the ball to the right for Joao Felix, but his pass goes astray as he’s taken out by Arambarri. Despite protestations, however, the referee allows play to continue and give Getafe a chance to clear.

Getafe get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the LaLiga fixture between Atletico Madrid and Getafe!
Atletico Madrid’s preseason went about as well as it could have, with six-consecutive wins - including victories against Real Madrid and Juventus. Joao Felix has seemingly bedded in perfectly, despite the pressure on his young shoulders to fill the void of the departed Antoine Griezmann. It’ll be a tough test today for Atletico against Getafe, who had the second-best defence in the league last year.
Getafe are still on a high after achieving fifth place - and a Europa League spot - last season; though they missed out on the Champions League by only two points. Head coach Jose Bordalas will be looking to turn the positivity into an opening-day victory, though the Madrid-based club have not beaten Atletico in their last 16 attempts.
GETAFE SUBS: Raul Garcia, Markel Bergara, Xabier Etxeita, Leandro Chichizola, Angel Rodriguez, Francisco Portillo, Enric Gallego.
GETAFE XI (4-4-2): David Soria; Damian Suarez, Bruno Gonzalez, Djene Dakonam, Leandro Cabrera; Allan Nyom, Mauro Arambarri, Faycal Fajr, Marc Cucurella; Jorge Molina, Jaime Mata.
ATLETICO SUBS: Santiago Arias, Antonio Adan, Vitolo, Hector Herrera, Marcos Llorente, Mario Hermoso, Ivan Saponjic.
ATLETICO MADRID XI (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Renan Lodi, Jose Gimenez, Stefan Savic, Kieran Trippier; Thomas Lemar, Thomas Partey, Saul Niguez, Koke; Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let's take a look at the team news, starting with Atletico!
The positive news for Getafe is that with one less player each, they will be able to stretch the field easier to attack. But without the presence of their key striker and nothing to draw positivity from in the first 45 minutes, Bordalas will have a difficult time clawing back a point at the home of one of European football’s greatest defences.
That concludes our commentary of the LaLiga fixture between Atletico Madrid and Getafe! We hope you enjoyed it!
Atletico Madrid are in action again in a week, when they travel to face Leganes. Getafe will be hoping for better next time out, when they host Athletic Bilbao.
